Inspire – High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

Inspire – High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

We are dedicated to identifying and supporting high potential and gifted students, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to excel.

Our staff consistently incorporate differentiated tasks in their planning and instruction, adapting the pace, activities, and level of challenge to meet diverse needs.

During Parent-Teacher interviews, students are grouped within their identified domains in line with the HPGE policy, allowing for the development of personalised strengths, goals and related projects.

We use flexible groupings for collaborative thinking and presentations, set targeted learning goals and provide strengths-focused feedback to effectively address each student’s unique learning profile.

Across our school

We recognise that every student is unique, so we offer flexible and diverse opportunities to support their individual growth.

Students develop their strengths through passion projects, critical thinking activities and pathways in STEM and coding.

We celebrate talent across a range of areas including drama, visual arts, music ensembles, choir and dance.

Leadership skills are nurtured through involvement in the Student Representative Council (SRC), mentoring and peer coaching.

Sport is also an important part of our program. We prioritise high-quality sporting opportunities by utilising nearby facilities in Dubbo and Wellington, and we actively participate in the Small Schools Collaborative sporting skills days.

Across NSW

Our students can take part in the Representative School Sport Pathway and PSSA events, where they have chances to try out and compete in sports at regional, state and national levels. This helps them develop important skills like discipline, commitment and working well with others.

For high potential and gifted students, the NSW Department of Education and other programs offer support. We help students with signing up, getting ready and reflecting on their experiences so that they can learn and improve from each opportunity.
